Retroshock Anniversary Party

You are invited to the first annual Retroshock Anniversary Party to be held from 6-9pm, Friday, March 21 at Discology CD Store, located on the corner of California and Plumas.

The celebration will include music provided by yours truely, an accoustic performance by Atomiks' frontman George Pickard, will feature a few 97.3 BoB FM personalities and some close friends.

The evening will also include a drawing for a vinyl of the newly released and unfortunately final Bauhaus Album "Go Away White." The winner of the drawing will be announced on the March 22 Retroshock Show on 97.3 BoB FM.

To have reached this milestone has been possible because of the support and encouragment of the following people:
• Dave Calkins, owner of Discology (one of Reno's only independent CD Stores) who sponsors my show and is a unlimited source of satisfying my voracious appetite for the music I play.
• Bill Schulz, the program director of 97.3 BoB FM, who gave me my radio opportunity and continues to put up with me. For those of you who listen to BoB's sister station, Alice @ 96.5, he is the co-host of the popular Bill & Connie Show.
• My fellow 97.3 BoB FM staff members for their support including Morning Show Host Dave Mencarelli, Traffic Trey Valentine, evening host Reagan and weekend midday host Sean Powers.
Gone, but not forgotten: Former 97.3 BoB FM Personality Chris The Brit who started Retroshock with me and is now on the airwaves of the Phillipeans and former sales executives Trish Walker and Ivy Cohen for all their efforts.
Last, but not least: My listening audience for their loyalty and continued interest.

Thank you to all of you and I hope to see all of you on Friday evening!

Bauhaus releases new album!

Three years after Bauhaus reunited and last toured in 2005, Bauhaus released on March 4 “Go Away White.” Written and recorded in only 18 days, it unfortunately led to "musical differences" that broke up the band. Lead singer Peter Murphy, who converted to Islam in the '90s, has gone back to his solo career in Turkey while remaining members are re-forming Love and Rockets, to play this year's Coachella Music Festival.

To celebrate the new release, 97.3 BoB FM's Retroshock and Discology are offering you a chance to win the new Bauhaus album on vinyl! To qualify, purchase a new Bauhaus “Go Away White” CD at Discology. You will then be registered for a drawing to be held Friday, March 21. The name of the winner will be announced on the March 22 Retroshock show on 97.3 BoB FM.

Welcome to my blog!

Greetings

I am Willie from 97.3 BoB FM and after having my show Retroshock (airing 10pm-Midnight, Saturdays) reach its first anniversary, I felt it was time to start a blog.

Retroshock explores the more alternative side of the 80s and 90s, resurfaces old club hits, plays remixes of your favorite BoB FM tunes and opens the playlist to an occasional guest.

I envision this space to be used for previews of my upcoming Retroshock shows, announcing concerts and shows and as a platform for you to share your thoughts.

I wish to thank Dave Calkins of Discology, the sponsor of Retroshock, for his support of my show over the past year. Like we say on 97.3 BoB-FM: "The suits don't pick the music. We do!" And having an independent CD store sponsor my show reflects that.

Thanks,
Willie
